An Oprah-Crafted Meal Plan

Oprah Winfrey has been on television since 1976 where she worked as the youngest and first black female news anchor at Nashville’s WLAC-TV. Needless to say, Oprah’s been around for a while and shows no signs of going anywhere. Each year, Oprah releases a list of her favorite things from the past year. At FoodyDirect, we’re lucky because we have our own list of Oprah’s favorite dishes!

Oprah's favorite cream scones

A Pre-Dinner Sweet

Why end the night with dessert when you can start AND end with it? Mah-Ze-Dahr Bakery’s flaky and sugar-dusted scones are considered a classic. Covered with either dried Michigan cherries or chocolate chips, they go well with butter or the jam of your choice. These scones are light and flaky so they will ensure that you have room for dessert while still getting that sweetness in

A Hearty Appetizer

Follow up your early dessert with something else to prime you for the dinner-to-come. These Fresh Maine Lobster Pot Pies are a mouth-watering start to a spectacular meal. This is the dish that made the Kennebunk Inn famous and it comes ready to bake so there’s no preparation needed.

The Maine Attraction

Also from the Kennebunk Inn, this unique dish is the physical embodiment of a summer in Maine. The Lobster White Truffle Pizzas are to-die-for. The creamy sauce is infused with herbs directly from the Kennebunk Inn’s garden so you know they’re fresh! Pair it with your favorite Chardonnay or white wine for the full Kennebunk Inn experience.

The Grand Finale

It wouldn’t be a complete dinner without an actual dessert. What does Oprah recommend? One of her favorites is the Chipper Jane Pound Cake which may sound simple but has a surprise hidden in the center (The middle of the bundt cake is filled with rich buttercream icing!). Finish you stellar dinner with an equally stellar dessert.

If pound cake isn’t your cup of tea, try this Chocolate Caramel Layer Cake (you’d never guess it’s also gluten free!)! The velvety chocolate Italian buttercream and salted caramel are melt-in-your-mouth delicious. You won’t believe your taste buds when you get a bite of this delectable, salty-sweet creation.
